Here are a few of the people I want to meet in 2013, that are definitely outside of my normal circle of influence!
1. John Lasseter- chief creative officer at Pixar and Disney Animation Studios
2. Marissa Mayer- President and CEO of Yahoo!
3. Chris Anderson – curator and key leader of TED
4. Charlie Rose – host of the Charlie Rose Show, and CBS Early Show
5. Duck Dynasty family- Phil, Willie and Jase Robertson
6. Denzel Washington – legendary actor
7. Jonathan Ive – senior vice president of industrial design at Apple
8. Sheryl Sandberg – COO at Facebook
9. Jeff Bezos- CEO of Amazon
10. Brad Paisley- country music singer and songwriter
11. Richard Branson- CEO of Virgin
12. Pete Cashmore – founder and CEO of Mashable.
13. Tina Fey – comedian, writer and author.

The reason to meet all of these folks- I believe they are the best in the world at what they do, whether acting, performing, directing, coaching, leading, producing or singing. People at the top of their game who are incredibly excellent at their craft or profession have learned something about greatness, otherwise they wouldn’t be where they are. And I love to learn from those outside of my “normal circle” of influence.

Who’s on your list?

  1. Jon Stolpe says:

Brad Lomenick, Dave Ramsey, Jon Acuff, Jeff Goins, Seth Barnes, Matt McWilliams, Chip Kelley, Charlie Manuel, Joe Lalonde, Larry Carter, Joel Manby, John Maxwell, and Michael Hyatt

  2. Jon Staley says:

Who would I most like to meet this year? How about someone who will bring me closer to Jesus? It seems to me that talking to a nameless 80 year old woman who has faithfully walked with my Saviour her whole life would be of greater value than meeting a host of successful actors and TV personalities who blaspheme the name of Jesus. Why are we looking to people outside the faith who can only teach us about expanding out own kingdoms when our mandate from the Son of God is to “Seek first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness.”???

  3. Roy Opata Olende says:

Love this idea – I’ve never thought about actually making a list and then trying to meet those influencers.

I hope you’re able to make it happen, Brad.

  4. Hmmm… This makes me think. Here’s a few people I’d like to meet -

    Pat Flynn
Jeremy and Jason from Internet Business Mastery
    Brad Lomenick
Ken Coleman (hoping to meet you and Ken at Catalyst Atlanta this year)
    Kevin Miller
    Dan Black

  5. Jon Staley says:

I am certain that I am way outside your “normal circle” of influence, so let me ask how these two statements fit together.

“People at the top of their game who are incredibly excellent at their craft or profession have learned something about greatness, otherwise they wouldn’t be where they are. And I love to learn from those outside of my “normal circle” of influence.”

    And,

“If you want to be great in God’s kingdom, learn to be a servant of all.” –Jesus, (Mark 10:43).

Forgive me, but it seems that if we want to learn about greatness, the first question we have to answer is: “Greatness in who’s eyes?” That will determine our path to greatness.

  6. Pedro says:

Pretty extensive list huh Brad. I would love to one day shake your hand. And Ken’s, of course. If I don’t say that he will be going on about this on the next podcast. I’ll borrow Charlie Rose and Jeff Bezos from your list too.

I still would love to meet Mark Driscoll, Francis Chan, Rick Warren, Craig Groeschel, Andy Stanley (And his dad Dr. Charles Satnley). Judah Smith and Steven Furtick are on my list too.

I don’t think I’ll have the time to meet Billy Graham, but I would love that. Others on my dream list could include Nelson Mandela, Phil Jackson and MIchael Jordan.
