Who I want to meet in the next year
I know, I know, most of these are a total stretch, and might even be considered random. But just putting it out there. If you believe it, you can achieve it!
1. Denzel Washington
2. John Lasseter (Pixar)
3. Bill Gates
4. Bono
5. Paul Kigame (President of Rwanda)
6. Chris Anderson (TED Conference)
7. Tony Dungy (Catalyst baby!)
8. Will Smith
9. JJ Abrams
10. Tony Hawk
The reason to meet all of these folks- I believe they are the best in the world at what they do, whether acting, performing, directing, coaching, leading, or singing. People at the top of their game who are incredibly excellent at their craft or profession have learned something about greatness, otherwise they wouldn’t be where they are. And I love to learn from those outside of my “normal circle” of influence.
so, true story. when i lived in dallas, i worked for a guy and got to write movie reviews. when the pursuit of happyness came out, they did a red carpet event and i got to interview will smith.
when he came down to be interviewed, he leaned in and gave me a kiss! seriously. the video is somewhere online…but here’s the post and at least a pic of the evening!

Have you seen the video from Will Smith on why he thinks he’s good at what he does? He says it’s not talent since he considers himself mediocre at best. He says it’s his work ethic. He says he will not be out worked.
Good link Daniel. Enjoyed the clip…
Brad– interesting list…
Anne- love the pic and the blog post from the red carpet event in Dallas with Will Smith! Since you are friends can you connect me?????
Daniel- love that video clip. Interestingly enough, when I did the interview with Guy Kawasaki, he said the same thing- that no one will ever outwork him. I think hard work and perseverance are definitely part of the equation.
So, if Guy Kawasaki and Will Smith were both in a movie, someone would have to outwork the other … who do you think would win, Brad?
that is a great question. depends on what role they have in the movie. I guess I would say Will Smith, since he is an actor and has a reputation and standard to uphold.
